Aang died with the air nomads.

The next two Avatars, from water and earth, live without ever knowing who they are.

Zuko still spoke out at the meeting, he still refused to fight his father in the Agni Kai.

Zuko was banished, and in his search to find the Avatar, earth bends.

He is the Avatar and doesn’t know what to do about it.

Okay but consider:

Zuko, punching the air: “I MUST FIND THE AVATAR!”

*rock goes flying*

Zuko, waving his arms for emphasis: “IT IS THE ONLY WAY”

*strong wind knocks over grunt in the background*

Zuko, stomping dramatically: “TO RESTORE MY HONOR!”

*deck behind zuko becomes covered in ice*

Iroh, stroking his beard: “…. hmmmmmm…”

And Iroh just decides to mess with him and just goes “Well, I suppose we should start searching” and Zuko doesn’t find out until later in the episode

Nah man, gimme a whole season of Zuko and Iroh’s hijinks as they search for the avatar and it’s Zuko the whole time. A whole season of Iroh waffling between goofy uncle and “here let me teach you about balance-” “I DON”T NEED BALANCE I NEED TO RESTORE MY HONOUR” “okay cool you do you kid i bet the avatar’s behind that rock please move it for me”

zuko saying he needs to find the avatar, when actually, he just needs to find himself is his original story arc

¯_(ツ)_/¯

I’d read this fic. Someone write it

Id pay for thay fic tbh

@blackkatmagic

Ah, but you’re not thinking the two of them got exiled on their own from the Fire Nation, did you?

Prince Iroh and exiled Prince Zuko left with a contingent of sailors and military men. Said military personnel realize what is happening three days into their trip.

When wacky spirit shenanigans happen and Zuko solves it without knowing, the military lieutenant look at the commander like he’s in the office.

@thefringeperson

When Admiral Zhao takes Zuko’s ship and all his crew, and questions them, all of the crew say the same thing:

“No, Prince Zuko hasn’t found the Avatar yet.”

They say this with varying ability to keep a straight face.  There’s one of them who just breaks down in helpless giggles.

“Nope,” he gets out between the giggles.  “Not found.  Definitely not found.”

Admiral Zhao’s men come to the conclusion that Zuko’s crew have cracked under the stress of being away from the Fire Nation so long, and especially on a mission that pretty much the whole Nation “knows” is impossible.

Re: that last witchblr post…

I have Eternal Spite Mode activated on very few people, and a lesser degree on a bare handful. *cough Cauldron Farms & The Piety Posse cough* Both for personal, academic, and professional reasons.

But if even I can acknowledge; with all the roiling hatred and rage I bear for one RK & GK et al; that others find their works helpful and even a cornerstone of their beliefs…. I can acknowledge that the jerkwad down the feed on this blue hellsite might also have a few decent views.

it really bothers me when everyone in witchblr starts reblogging a post from a blog with a hateful url. it makes me worried that the folks reblogging are okay with that, or agree with it. i hope it’s just that they didn’t pay attention to who the op is. :/

Oh no! If I ever do this, please please please let me know! It’s because I wasn’t paying attention to who the op was.

Additionally, if you catch me reblogging from terfs, racists, or other awful things, please tell me! I don’t go through every single Tumblr. I tend to assume that if it shows up on my dash via one of the blogs I follow, that it’s from an okay source. I’ve found out the hard way that this isn’t always the case.

it wasn’t you, if you were worried! it was from a url that was pretty clearly acephobic, and their blog seemed to be mostly about trolling people and revelling in stirring up crap, so i don’t want to give them any extra publicity.

the folks that i saw reblogging it weren’t folks i interact with, so i didn’t feel comfortable going “hey did you notice this..?”

i’m going to give those folks the benefit of the somewhat-doubt, but also kind of be on the lookout for more acephobic stuff from them, just in case 👀

If I ever do this, I hope someone will gently point it out. Even if I’m not someone they interact with.

I assure anyone reading, it would have been done entirely in error.

I try to look at OP, but please don’t hesitate to send me a “hey did you notice who made this post…?”

I’ve done this for some of the blogs I follow, and it’s always ended with them going “oh shit, thanks for catching that, I don’t want that kind of message on my blog!!” which is really nice.

Ehhh.

You can appreciate content from someone and still dislike them as a person.

Separate the work from the works.

Even terribly toxic people sometimes possess a few good opinions.

While I’m at it, I’m really not happy with the way Tumblr is restoring “the innocence of youth” culture to 1990s-purity-ring levels.

It’s somehow transmuted a few good principles–adults shouldn’t have sex with underage people, underage people shouldn’t take part in porn, very young children shouldn’t be exposed to explicit sexuality–into bullshit like:

– All fiction involving underage sexuality, even non-sensationalized written descriptions of the kind of sexual relationships teenagers often have with each other, is child porn

– Sex education that talks about dealing with STIs and pregnancy and rape is okay, but teaching teenagers about sexual pleasure is gross and anyone who does it is probably a pedophile

– People under 18 all find sexuality frightening or offputting and don’t want to be exposed to it (I’m sure some feel that way, but if you think this is a universal or majority thing, wow, you must’ve gone to a very different high school than I did)

– Having adult content somewhere that minors could stumble across it is as bad as going to the playground and pushing it in kindergarteners’ faces

– Even acknowledging the existence of underage sexuality is suspicious, why would you be talking about this if you weren’t some kind of pedophile

It’s tough to talk about this because it immediately puts you in the company of people who really are being creepy about it, but I think it’s important to push back against these things.  Young people have sexualities, they aren’t “innocent” and many of them don’t want to be, and it is possible to acknowledge these facts without exploiting them.

if you make a distinction between 6-year-olds and 16-year-olds with regard to sexuality, there’s a whole posse of antis who will actively go out and crusade in random folks’ inboxes trying to convince the world you’re a pedophile.

because of the ‘believe all accusations and spread them like wildfire’ element of this culture, there’s a whole lot of high-strung scrupulosity victims being manipulated by a handful of bigots, who aim them at women, jews, and queer people pretty much exclusively. you never see a cis straight man being accused this way. you never reblog from a cis straight man and get an anon going “you know he’s a pedophile right???” – if you get a message like that it’s always going to be about someone the right wing hates.

i don’t think it’s at all an irony that the core message of anti culture is the same as 1980′s fundamentalism. i think it’s very deliberate.
